The necklace symbolizes Solomon's search, his quest for the meaning of life. The book of Ecclesiastes records that wise King Solomon searched for contentment and the meaning of life by pursuing knowledge, sensual pleasures, possessions, and works, to finally come to the conclusion that only one thing is truly important:

Solomon says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments … For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Eccl. 12:14)
